Personalised Lessons

In terms of our Year 9 Personalised lesson program we noticed that you have focused on the language conventions and some writing. Is this because we only have 10 lessons?

The program uses median rather than mean as this is a better indication for choosing which lessons are best for the cohort.  Once these medians are established student individual results are used to determine which lessons they need most.

With only 10 lessons you only get the 10 most needed in order and where there are enough students needing the same thing to make up a class (based on the class size you've requested). Alternatively you can purchase some Reading lessons for later use or you could run a rotation using the reading data only.

If students were absent can we give you information based on NAPLAN and have these students aligned with an individual program? Or would these students have to do the diagnostic tests and then be added to the program?

When a school orders a rotation preparation it is best that a current student listing is sent in so that results of students that have left for example are disregarded.  Students that attend the school, but don't have data can be added in to be included in rotations even if they aren't based on their needs. If it is possible for test data to be included for the additional students this is preferable.

I have 6 teachers available (3 literacy and 3 numeracy) but they aren't all available at the same time?

No problem. We can prepare the literacy program and numeracy programs individually. That way you can also elect to have different sized classes.
Eg. 100 students attending 4 literacy lessons with 5 teachers (class size 20);
100 students attending 4 numeracy lessons with 6 teachers (class size 16-17).

When will teachers receive their particular lessons? How far in advance?

If your school has supplied our office with an admin contact for the resource portal then your lessons will be available within 24 hrs.

3D Programs

What is a 3D Program?

Our 3D Programs are personalised learning programs that aim to drive your students to success and develop their knowledge and skills, to help them discover their potential. They are designed to suit both your schools’ and students’ needs, so no two 3D programs are ever the same.

How are 3D programs designed?

After receiving your request for a 3D program, you will be provided with our 3D program form. This form will ask you to specify:

  • The year level of the students who will be participating in the program
  • The total number of students who will be participating in the program
  • Whether the participating students will be OP eligible, Non-OP or both
  • How many lessons you would like included in your program
  • How long you would like each of those lessons to go for
  • How many teachers you have available to facilitate the lessons within the program
  • Whether you would like your program to be based on data and;
  • Whether you would like your program to be based solely on the Pathways to Success text, or to include extra rotation lessons, turbo days, master classes and/or workshops

Once you have filled out this form and returned it to us, our program designer will begin designing your program for you.

What do 3D programs cost?

A personalised 3D Program comes free with your purchase of our Pathways to Success Text. While Mighty Minds will mark a numeracy and/or literacy diagnostic test for each copy of the text purchased, any extra marking will come at an extra cost. Any extra rotation lessons, turbo days, master classes and workshops required, will also come at an extra cost.

How personalised can a 3D program be?

Your 3D program will be designed according to your requests, however the more data that you are able to provide us with, the more personalised the program will be. We use your students’ data to help us identify their strengths and weaknesses and therefore the types of lessons and activities that they would benefit from the most. As a result, the more data that we have access to, the better our understanding will be of where their strengths and weaknesses lie and how to target them.

How long can 3D programs go for?

A 3D program based solely on the Pathways to Success text can be designed to cover anywhere from 1 day to 2 years. Any extras added to the program (i.e. extra rotation lessons, turbo days, master classes and workshops), will help to extend your program.

Pathways to Success

Can we have a copy of Pathways electronically for displaying in class?
Mighty Minds is restricted to producing only hard copies of these items. We realise this is very impractical and annoying for teachers but it is a decision by QCAA, with whom we must legally comply.

In Focus

What testing should I do for the PIP/CIP/HIP reports?
We recommend that your students complete the Mighty Minds National testing as it has been specifically designed to cover the 36 fundamental skills.

Do we have to complete all 5 tests?
No of course not but the more testing you do complete the more comprehensive the report data is for the generation of the students' personalised improvement plans.

How much is the testing?
All our prices are available in our Program Planner  http://mightyminds.com.au/program-planner/ under Junior Testing. You can also refer to the “NAP Marking Guidelines 27054268” on the portal.

We don’t want to do any more testing. Can you just use our NAPLAN data?
Yes we can. However please note that some years not all Fundamentals Skills are covered in NAPLAN.

Our school completes PAT M/ PAT R testing can you use those results instead?
No unfortunately PAT M and PAT R do not generate a comprehensive data set to allow a PIP/CIP/PIP t be created.

We want to get started what should we do now?
Visit our planner and generate a quote for budgeting purposes, email it through and we will be in touch.

How do we receive our PIP/CIP/HIP  reports?
They will be made available to you on the portal under you marking tab. You will receive notification by email when they are ready for download.

We only want PIP’s and not CIPS/HIPS.
No problem.

Do you have a Compendium for the other year levels?
We are currently in production of a Year 4 Compendium. If you are interested  in a different year level please advise our Creative Director  so we can begin planning.   creative@mightyminds.com.au

We have pre-ordered a Year 7 compendium when will it arrive?
Our manufacturer has assured us that production will be complete in time for the start of the 2015 school year.

Can we please see a Compendium before we place our order?
Unfortunately we are not able to provide a complimentary copy however please contact the office an we are more than happy to consult in your school and show you the resources prior to your purchase.

Can we just have a PIP/SIP/HIP and no Compendium?
Of course. Your teachers will need to build a set of resources to support the findings of the PIP/CIP/HIP

What resources do you have available for other year levels to support the PIP/HIP/SIP?
We have 500+ lessons available for purchase on our portal that cover the 36 fundamental skills from Year 2  - Year 9.
